Changes to Help the Planet

A Sustainable Way to Shop for a Greener Happier World

Thinking about the impact each purchase you make will have on the planet. Do you Want it? Do You Need it? As an alternative, maybe you could buy secondhand. Take time to think about the carbon footprint of items you buy. Consider if it is wrapped in plastic, or if it is made of plastic.

However do not let this overwhelm you, making small changes will make this a more manageable process.

Think About Waste

On a daily basis many homes produce food waste, there are other items too such as clothes or furniture.

Firstly, let’s think of ways to minimise the waste of throwing out household items, like clothes. Buying/selling secondhand or preloved of something is a good way of changing shopping habits. Buying or selling of preloved books or clothes has been happening for hundreds of years.

Secondly, food waste is something at the forefront of many a tv show of late. Ways to cook wisely, doing your food shop with a list, freezing items before they spoil. Composting is an excellent method of managing any waste food by turning it into compost. Apps are also changing how you can stop food waste from supermarkets going into a skip.

Finally, lets feel good about every single change made, this will have a positive impact on the planet.

Changing Habits for a Greener Happier Sustainable World

Tackling the problems of waste will require huge change by every household. This will be done voluntarily by some, but others will require their local councils to supply and encourage the collection of food waste. Most importantly, in the UK there is a government commitment to roll out separate household food waste collection across England by 2023.

Switching to Green Energy

Importantly now we have many different types of alternative energy to choose from we are not so reliant on fossil fuels. Alternatives include solar, wind, hydro or heat pumps.

Cars – From fossil fuel to Electric

It has taken climate change pledges from governments around the world and legislation to kick the motor industrial into moving to electric vehicles. This is a monumental shift for vehicle owners, no matter where in the world you are. Firstly, just consider the the cost of a new electric car, that all falls on the householder. Secondly, timing the purchase of an electric car when the technology is at its peak, more over that, are there sufficient charging points around the country.

Together as a planet we can make those changes happen, and be a greener happier and sustainable world for it.
